AOPA Box Set
The AOPA Pilot's Chronograph is the perfect collaboration between Jack Mason's passion for watchmaking and AOPA's passion for the skies. For the first time ever, we introduce tritium markers and hands so the dial always stays lit inside a dark cockpit. The case is sized at 45mm and coated with a PVD process for maximum durability and wear resistance. We outfitted the watch with a Swiss Ronda Caliber 5030.D chronograph movement that's protected by an anti-magnetic movement guard; essential for cockpit use. The crystal is made of acrylic to allow flexibility during pressure and altitude changes during flight. The AOPA Pilot's Chronograph is tested for water resistance of up to 100 meters.
We have teamed up with AOPA to engineer the perfect pilot's chronograph. Working directly with the pilot's of AOPA allowed us to design a watch that meets both the functional criteria essential to pilots and the design standards we are known for.
Trigalight® H3 Tritium
The hour markers and hands contain hermetic glass tubes of tritium. Tritium is a slightly radioactive isotope of hydrogen, and when mixed with phosphor-based paint, it emits continual light for up to 25 years - ideal for low-light cockpits.
We utilized Swiss Super-Luminova, the highest grade luminescent paint on the market, to highlight the sub-dials and bezel. This, in combination with the tritium markers, makes for an incredibly legible watch for night flights.
A Pilot's Checklist
Swiss Quartz Chronograph
Equipped with a Ronda Caliber 5030.D chronograph movement, this watch is the perfect tool for tracking total flight time or orienteering. The Swiss quartz movement can track elapsed time up to 12 hours.
Anti-Magnetic Movement Guard
A pilot’s watch can be vulnerable to heavy magnetic fields emitted from cockpit instruments, which is why we fitted the AOPA Watch with a soft iron cage to house and protect the movement.
Pressure Tested Acrylic Crystal
An acrylic crystal offers several unique benefits for a pilot's watch. Acrylic is more flexible than other crystal materials, which prevents it from popping out due to pressure changes and also allows it to be virtually shatter proof.
Designed for optimum functionality, the bezel can be used for multiple purposes. Not only can it track elapsed time, but it can also be used to track time in a second timezone or act as a countdown timer in hours and minutes.
