Nautical
Jack Mason’s Nautical watches share the Halyard name, which is derived from the phrase “to haul yards.” Hauling yards itself refers to the raising and lowering of a boat's sails. True to the name, these watches are not built to be dive watches, but they are designed to help you coast the waves and last under a good amount of water exposure.

Halyard GMT
The Halyard GMT, short for Greenwich Mean Time, is made for the modern world traveler and inspired by the jet-set air travel of the 1950s. Greenwich Mean Time refers to a specific time zone that Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) is associated with. UTC is used as a Mean Time for all time zones worldwide, making it and GMT the perfect things to associate with this watch. The watch at 42mm makes a bold statement on the wrist, accentuated by the shimmer of the stainless steel case, matching bracelet, and unique timekeeping function. Like all offerings in the nautical line, the GMT has an easily read dial achieved by regular minute markings, applied indices, and applied numbers at three-hour intervals. The dial also has an inset date window to be found at the three o’clock position, allowing you to tell the day at a glance as well as the time. Examining the obverse side of the timepiece reveals the sculptural caseback: An anchor surrounded by the embossed pattern of moving waves. Every inch of the GMT, from the caseback to the highly legible face, is designed to announce its status as a nautical watch. Arguably the most distinctive characteristic of the Halyard GMT is the complication that gives it its name: The bezel. The bidirectional bezel, which is colored both blue and red, features 24 distinct hour markers so that the wearer can set the time in a total of up to three time zones while symbolizing the cycle of night and day. Additionally, because the bezel is made of anodized aluminum, it is highly corrosion-resistant, making it an ideal addition to the wrist of any seafarer.Form and Function
The GMT has as much going into its practical qualities as it does its aesthetic ones. The case and bracelet are both made of 316L stainless steel. This is also known as “marine-grade” stainless steel, thanks to its durability when exposed to water. The assets are completed by a highly protective sapphire crystal. While not a dive watch, it is also tested at a competitive water depth of 100 meters, making it perfectly functional on the water. From a legibility perspective, Swiss SuperLuminova markings on the hands, indices, and 24-hour mark of the bezel improve ease of reading in darkness. The white face, colorful bezel, silver case, and host of other features make the GMT a high-powered, eye-catching accessory.Halyard Chronograph
The Halyard Chronograph lacks the anodized bezel of the GMT but makes up for it by providing a necessary and iconic watch complication, usable on land, air, and sea. Chronographs have a storied history, originally being used for their high accuracy compared to the average timepiece as stopwatches. The original chronographs were used to work with astronomical equipment as well as timing horse races. Chronograph watches generally include tachymeter and stopwatch functionality to measure both time elapsed and speed. The chronograph function of the watch is represented by three subdials and an interior bezel labeled up to 60 seconds. A date window is placed in the 6 o’clock position of the lowest sundial, creating an appearance that’s both easily read and unobtrusive. Luminosity markings on both the indices of the watch and the hands make the fundamental elements of the watch highly legible under any circumstances. All in all, on a visual front, the dial of the Halyard Chronograph maximizes the information provided while avoiding the busy appearance that remains the Achilles heel of many other watches with multiple complications. The Chronograph remains just as impressive when it comes to the design choices that ensure the continued functionality of the timepiece. Each watch is water tested at 100 meters and features a case made of 316L stainless steel, ensuring a high degree of water resistance throughout the life of the watch. The sapphire crystal of the watch also helps keep the face protected. Two different casebacks are made, based on the specific model of the watch: On one, an anchor is flanked by the open waves of the ocean, whereas the other caseback shows the wheel of a ship flanked by a rope pattern.A Watch for Every Look
Four versions of the Chronograph exist: A navy dial with a brown leather strap A sky blue dial with a tan leather strap A white dial with a tan leather strap A black dial with a black leather strap The wide variety of combinations make the chronograph a versatile watch that can be dressed up or down as the situation demands. In addition, quick-release straps make it possible to customize your watch for any occasion by switching the band that comes with your watch with any 22mm Jack Mason strap. While it may be a nautical watch, the Halyard Chronographs design makes it at home in any context, even on dry land.Halyard Sport Chronograph
The design elements inlaid in the Halyard Chronograph are altered to turn the regular watch into the high-powered, high-performance Halyard Sport Chronograph. The most immediate visual difference is that the Sport Chronograph trades an interior bezel for a unidirectional exterior one. Highly visible yet spatially economical indices combine with bold lettering on the bezel and face to create a watch that’s legible as a timepiece and chronograph in equal measure. Luminosity markings make the whole piece easily read, whether in the light of day or going out on a moonless sea. The timepiece is completed by the Miyota OS20 movement, allowing for precision measurements for a long time to come. The “Sport” nature of the watch is backed by additional protective features. A highly corrosion-resistant 316L stainless steel case and sapphire crystal protect the watch inside and out, and water testing at 100 meters for each piece makes this nautical watch earn that distinction. Three variations of the Sport Chronograph exist, with different levels of functionality in the strap for each one. The three versions are: The first version showcases a white face, blue bezel, and subdials that match a brown leather band. The second version uses a partial inverse: Blue face, blue bezel, one white subdial, matched with a tan leather band, and most notably having a gold-colored bezel edge placed on a stainless steel case for a highly distinctive silhouette. This version features gold-colored pushers and hands for a bright presentation. The third version provides a sleek monochrome appearance while offering high performance in the water with a black face and bezel, white numbering, and a rubber strap. For those seeking to add a touch of athleticism to their wristwear, the Halyard Sport Chronograph fuses the sleek designs of our nautical line with the powerful functionality we come to expect from sport watches.Considering the Strap
It’s important to think about how you plan to use your watch when picking the strap. Just because these are nautical watches doesn’t mean you have to confine yourself to the open waters when wearing them. Different types of straps work better for different environments, and it would be remiss of us not to discuss them. If your watch sees formal contexts on dry land more often than the sea breeze, a leather strap can make a great addition at any level of dress. If you plan on bringing your watch into the water, however, other types of straps may hold up better. While leather straps can definitely withstand moisture and won’t immediately deteriorate, long-term moisture exposure can weaken the band and damage the strap. Fortunately, all our watches are tested at a depth where swimming under normal circumstances shouldn’t cause issues. However, in contexts with extensive and sustained exposure, other types of straps hold up better than traditional leather. Since all the watches listed above are compatible with 22mm watch straps, consider rubber or nato straps from the relevant line. Rubber and nylon both respond well to moisture exposure, sustaining little damage under moisture alone and quickly drying when taken off.Ready for Adventure
